Buyer

DPI Specialty Foods, a market leader in the food distribution industry, currently has an opening for an experienced Buyer.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:

Maintain an excellent working relationship with vendors and brokers assigned to them by the VP of Purchasing 

Fully responsible for inventory levels, in-stock ratio minimum of 95% Raw Rate, and inventory turns as set by the VP of Purchasing 

Participates in appointments with vendors assigned as directed by the VP of Purchasing

Create/review purchase orders taking into account sales figures, seasonal trends, promotions, new authorizations, minimum shipments, code life, and inventory turns 

Contacts freight carriers to arrange transportation of purchases and regarding late shipments 

Processes and approves freight bills from carriers consigned to haul product

Responsible for maintaining freight rate goals set by VP of Purchasing

Authorizes return of merchandise

Generating of purchase orders for assigned vendors which result in the meeting or exceeding of company goals and expectations for asset performance

Shared management of inventory performance of assigned vendors including inventory levels, service level, turns and aging

Responsible for reviewing and making recommendations of inventory; aged, short coded and dead inventory

Responsible for timely system item maintenance of assigned vendors

Requirements

Must have an A.A. Degree and/or 1 year purchasing experience

Ability to communicate with others effectively 

Ability to understand how to obtain company goals

Must be able to sit, stand, reach and walk

Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl

Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds

Must be detail oriented, organized, self motivated, dedicated to customer service

Must have strong work ethic and flexibility as well as effective communication skills
