DPI has a long history, which chronicles the growth, combination and evolution of several different specialty food companies spanning three quarters of a century. Some had very modest beginnings, offering their products with pride and confidence at local markets before achieving national prominence. 1936 – Butter Marketing Committee created by the Irish Government
1961 – Irish Dairy Board formed (IDB)
1973 – IDB becomes a farmers’ coop as
1984 – IDB establishes a
1990 – IDB begins purchasing DPI holdings from a subsidiary of Perrier
1994 – IDB Purchases the remaining DPI holdings from Perrier
1995-2001 – Balance of DPI holdings purchased from various entities
